What a Rune is

One page, with nothing held back for the small print. A Rune is a counter this hall prints to keep score at its own benches. It carries no rate of exchange, no cash value and no life beyond this site.

Where they come from

Four free sources, and one that is not

Four of these cost nothing and always will. The fifth is a purchase, and it is the only place on this site where real money appears at all.

The four free sources are not a trial and do not run dry. No bench, and no part of any bench, waits behind a bundle.

The limits

It will not

Become money, by any route, at any rate
Buy goods, services, vouchers or prizes
Move to another player, or off this site
Enter a draw, a raffle, a sweepstake or a prize ladder
Improve anybody's odds by being plentiful

Because a Rune is not money, nothing in this hall is gambling in the legal sense, and nothing here can be won or lost in any way that reaches a bank account. That is a decision taken deliberately, not a stage on the way to something else.

Where the hoard sits

In the browser, not in an account

Nobody signs up to Arcade Viking, so no server holds a figure against anybody's name. The hoard is written into your browser's local storage under the key av_hoard, beside the moment the daily gift was last taken. Neither value ever reaches us.

What follows from that is plain enough. Clear the site data, open a private window, change browser or pick up another machine, and the hall starts you again on 15,000 Runes. Free Runes are past our power to restore, because we never held them. A bundle is another matter: keep the order reference and send word.
